q1. What age are children eligible for the child-minding service?

servus credit union place offers drop-in child-minding service for children 2 months to 7 years of age.

q2. Do parents have to stay at servus place while using the service?

Yes, parents must be engaged in an activity or program in servus place while utilizing the child-minding service.

q3. Do the staff in child-minding have any first aid training?

All staff in the child-minding centre have standard first aid & CPR (including infant CPR) and a security clearance check.

q4. What hours can we use the child-minding service?

Currently the child-minding hours are as follows:

  • monday - thursday 9:00am - 3:00pm and 5:00pm - 8:30pm
  • friday 9:00am - 3:00pm
  • saturday 8:30am - 1:00pm
    not available on sunday and holidays

    q5. How long can a child be left in child-minding?

    Child-minding is available for a maximum of three hours per day.

    q6. What are the costs involved in the using the child-minding service?

    one time purchase (per 30 minutes):

  • $2.00 per child
  • $3.00 per family

    punch passes (per 10 hours):

  • $36.00 per child
  • $54.00 per family

    q7. What is the ratio of adults to children?

    servus credit union place utilizes the province of Alberta's best practice guidelines for drop-in centres:

  • under 19 months 1:5 ratio
  • 19 months to 3 years 1:8 ratio
  • 3 years to 7 years 1:12 ratio

    q8. Is food supplied in the child-minding area?

    We will have a designated snack time from 10:00am - 10:30am, 1:45am - 2:15pm and 6:30pm - 7:00pm

  • parents are encouraged to pack a healthy snack for their child
  • in consideration of children with allergies, please do not send peanuts or penaut products; popcorn is also discouraged, as it is a choking hazard
  • we are not equipped to serve breakfast, lunch or dinner. Please enjoy the use of our lobby to feed yoru child their meal prior to entering the childminding space.

    q9. What should my child bring when we use the service?

  • clean indoor shoes
  • clearly labeled personal items
  • if your child prefers a special toy they are welcome to bring it; however we cannot be responsible for lost, shared or damaged toys
